Job Description
The Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the "Institute of Mechanics") was founded in 1956 and is a comprehensive national-level mechanics research base guided by Mr. Qian Xuesen's engineering science philosophy. The Institute of Mechanics has always focused on major national needs, centered on key common technologies and core scientific issues, promoted deep interdisciplinary integration between mechanics and related disciplines, and built a complete innovation chain from original innovation to technological breakthroughs and then to system integration, achieving an organic combination of scientific and technological innovation, platform construction, and talent cultivation, and building a world-class international mechanics research center.
It currently has more than 800 employees, including 5 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has received support from more than 50 national-level talent programs and more than 80 institute-level talent programs, and has successively won more than 280 various science and technology awards from the State, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and various ministries and commissions.
Established in July 2012, the Key Laboratory for Mechanics in Fluid‑Solid Coupling Systems (LMFS) is a core lab nurtured by IMCAS. Fluid‑solid coupling mechanics investigates fluid‑solid interaction phenomena prevalent in nature and engineering structures. Fluid-solid coupling systems widely exist in natural phenomena and engineering structures. Mechanics in fluid solid coupling systems is the science that studies the interaction laws between fluids and solids. It is an interdisciplinary field among major branches of mechanics such as fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, and dynamics and control, and is the main scientific foundation for mechanistic understanding of processes, efficient realization of functions, and reliable guarantee of safety.
Guided by the "Engineering Science" philosophy, LMFS faces major national needs in fields such as transportation, energy, and the environment, and focuses on directions including deep-sea equipment, resource extraction, deep-earth science, deep-space exploration, and polar development. It develops theories and numerical simulation technologies for mechanics in fluid solid coupling systems, addresses bottleneck technologies in major equipment and engineering, and promotes independent innovation and technological breakthroughs in equipment and major projects. Its core research areas include: environmental adaptability and performance control of major equipment in land, sea, air, and space; explosion, impact, and safety protection; marine environmental mechanics and engineering disaster prediction; and flow mechanisms and safety in deep resource extraction.
