What Your Job Will Be Like:

The Sandia Mission Services Talent Acquisition Team (MSTAT) is seeking a Business Operations Specialist. This team is active in identifying candidates with relevant academic and work experience in an effort to meet our staffing needs and objectives for either current or near-term positions.

Selected applicants will be interviewed by a subcommittee of managers and staff. Subsequently, successful applicants will be provided to managers for placement in positions across the Laboratory. These positions require reporting onsite due to the nature of the work.

Candidates are expected to team with others to support Sandia's mission by adding value, improving operations, offering innovative solutions and appropriately managing risk for the corporation.

Position Information

The Business Operations Specialist provides leadership decision support through financial management, business planning, assurance, and operational execution. They communicate policy, workforce/resource planning, cost standards, and risk analysis. Facilitating cross-team collaboration, they develop integrated solutions for complex challenges, ensuring compliance and adaptability to evolving business models while driving initiatives aligned with organizational goals.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Provide leadership with data-driven decision intelligence on a broad range of business areas, including financial planning, resource management, operational strategy, and business processes.
  • Collaborate with operational partners to identify, plan, and achieve both short-term and long-term business and operational needs.
  • Develop and coordinate communication plans and strategies to effectively convey operational and financial information to stakeholders.
  • Analyze operations, processes, trends, and resources to advise on the most efficient methods for accomplishing mission objectives.
  • Prepare financial plans, alternatives, strategies, and resource forecasts; monitors implementation and prepares regular reports on financial performance and initiative status.
  • Participate in proposal submissions, contributing to the development of cost estimates and budget justifications.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams to design, implement, and drive rapid integrated solutions to complex operational problems, ensuring alignment with mission and business objectives.
  • Facilitate and coordinate sponsor/customer and stakeholder interactions, including team communications and meetings, while tracking planned deliverables.
  • Advise management on corporate policy interpretation and application, recommend implementation options and identifying associated risks to support decision making.
  • Identify areas for improvement within the customer's business operations and develop strategies to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

Salary Range:

$74,700 - $144,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Accounting, Finance or relevant discipline.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to apply these skills to resolve complex business and operational issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present information clearly and coherently, at a detail level appropriate for the audience.
  • Ability to work effectively with leadership and interact with all levels of internal and external personnel to build effective working relationships.
  • Ability to monitor overall financial performance and utilize financial analysis, and relevant software, to evaluate alternatives and opportunities.
  • Organizational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
  • Agility in moving between strategic and tactical levels.
  • Data analytics and data literacy skills

Security Clearance:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
