Job Summary

 

The Associate Director of Residence Life serves as a senior member of the Housing and Residence Life leadership team for the Housing and Residence Life department at Augusta University. The Associate Director's primary responsibilities include: staff supervision, program development, retention initiatives, staff training, and management of daily operations for residential facilities. Secondary responsibilities include, but are not limited to administrative functions, room assignments, and facilities management. The Associate Director helps to create personal growth experiences by facilitating student development opportunities, as well as developing a sense of community for the residential program.

Responsibilities

 

The duties include, but are not limited to:

SUPERVISION:

Directly supervise 2-4 Residence Life Coordinators, 2 Program Coordinators, and indirectly supervise 1-4 Graduate Assistants. 

Provide indirect supervision and development for over 50 student leaders. 

Assess the skills and development of Residence Life Coordinators while providing opportunities for professional growth. 

Ensure staff receive the necessary orientation and training to navigate policies, procedures, and the campus environment. 

Advocate for staff by helping them navigate work responsibilities and student concerns. 

Provide leadership for the planning and development of Living Learning Communities and academic initiatives in collaboration with faculty. 

Provide formal and informal training opportunities for full-time, graduate, and student staff. 

ADMINISTRATIVE:

Assist with the design, planning, and implementation of residential education programming. 

Collaborate to evaluate and analyze the student experience, student learning, and engagement. 

Use evaluation results to implement programs for continuous improvement. 

Participate in strategic planning activities to establish departmental and divisional goals. 

Manage facilities by assisting staff with facility upkeep, reporting, and tracking intentional damages. 

Participate in crisis management and emergency response trainings and exercises. 

Serve on call for after-hours emergencies on a rotating basis for residential crisis response. 

Coordinate staff training activities and selection processes for the assigned area. 

Provide budgetary oversight for the assigned area. 

Collaborate with housing and campus partners to accomplish the mission and vision of Housing and Residence Life. 

Serve as an active member of department and university committees/task forces as assigned. 

Perform other duties consistent with the purpose of the position as assigned. 

STUDENT AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT:

Develop a comprehensive, academically supportive community for the campus. 

Assist staff in assessing student needs and provide educational and social programs to effectively meet those needs. 

Initiate and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, family members, and external constituents. 

Coordinate responses to student behavior concerns in accordance with the Dean of Student Life Office and the Housing and Residence Life Handbook and Agreement. 

OTHER:

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

 

Master's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

 

Experienced supervising full-time staff; a scholarly-practitioner approach to student affairs work; a commitment to professional development and academic achievement; and the ability to lead and multi-task effectively in a changing department.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

 

ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Detail-oriented.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

 

Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Band: B11

Salary: $56,600.00/Annually-$61,727.88/Annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
