College of Sciences (COS)
The College of Sciences (COS) at UT San Antonio fosters innovation and excellence through teaching rooted in research across seven departments and 30 degree programs. Department of Chemistry
The UT San Antonio Department of Chemistry is a vibrant and comprehensive academic unit offering B.A. and B.S. degrees in Chemistry (approved by the American Chemical Society), along with a B.S. degree in Biochemistry (accredited by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology), and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry. Our vision is to be a leading department of chemistry that promotes scientific literacy through innovative research and cutting-edge educational advances, including exciting collaborations within and beyond UT San Antonio. Our dedicated faculty members pursue various research areas and are committed to the university’s mission of discovery, teaching and learning, community engagement, and public service. Currently, the department is home to 420 undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry majors, 58 graduate students, and 32 faculty members.
Salary Range: $54,000 for a 9 month contract, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications

Position Summary
The successful candidates will teach undergraduate biochemistry courses, including both lecture and lab components. This non-tenure track or Fixed-Term Track (FTT) position offers a dynamic teaching environment, with the majority of the workload focused on instruction (90%) and a small service component (10%). Importantly, there is no research requirement. UTSA offers a prestigious Professor of Instruction career ladder with opportunities for promotion, making this an excellent career path for dedicated educators. Please note that this position is not a pathway to a tenure-track role.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry or a closely related field of study.
Demonstrated interest in STEM education (participation in workshops, guest lecturing in courses, etc.).
This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
2 years of teaching experience, as an instructor of record (not as a graduate teaching assistant) in Biochemistry at the collegiate level.
Experience using evidence-based and/or active learning teaching methods.
Advanced training or work experience in Biochemistry.
Advanced training in STEM Education.
