IT Technical Trainer

The IT Technical Trainer designs and delivers educational programs that build AI literacy and practical skills in prompt engineering and AI agent development within Student Affairs. This role creates accessible curricula that help faculty, staff, and students understand AI technologies, including their uses and limitations. Through hands-on learning, participants develop effective prompts and AI-driven tools that support academic and administrative work, promoting ethical and innovative use of AI across the university.

Primary Duties Include
Leads and supports the identification, evaluation, and implementation of GenAI solutions to improve operations and drive efficiency and innovation.
Collaborates with Student Affairs Technology Services (SATS) and enterprise teams to integrate AI into workflows and service delivery.
Ensures all AI initiatives comply with university data governance, privacy, and security standards.
Establish and apply evaluation methods to measure AI training effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
Regularly review and update curriculum (e.g., each semester) to reflect new tools, guidelines, and relevant use cases aligned with university goals.
Develops, delivers, and maintains standardized AI training programs to build literacy and applied skills among employees.
Ensures all training resources follow best practices, ethical standards, and consistent delivery across formats.
Conduct model validation and performance evaluations in controlled environments.
Participate in AI-related communities of practice or consortium activities representing the university.
Recommend and test new AI techniques that align with the university’s data strategy and digital transformation goals.
Participate in establishing and maintaining AI governance and responsible AI deployment frameworks, ensuring transparency, fairness, and compliance with university standards.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 4 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in educational technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Instructional Design, or a related field. A strong foundation in both AI/Machine Learning and education/pedagogy is essential.

Experience Level: Generally, the ideal candidate would have a diverse background that may include time spent as a teacher or trainer, plus time in a technical role involving AI, or an academic role focusing on educational technology research.

• AI and Prompt Engineering Knowledge – Understanding of AI fundamentals, prompt engineering, and AI agent development.

• Technical Proficiency – Skill in using AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) and platforms for text, image, and data generation.

• Curriculum Design & Teaching – Demonstrated skills in creating and delivering instructional content, workshops, and hands-on learning.

• Communication & Collaboration – Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly and work effectively with diverse campus stakeholders.

Leads and supports the identification, evaluation, and implementation of generative AI (GenAI) solutions that enhance divisional operations and contribute to institutional goals of efficiency, innovation, and operational excellence. Collaborates with Student Affairs Technology Services (SATS) and enterprise application teams to integrate AI tools into existing business processes, workflows, and service delivery models. Ensures all AI initiatives align with university data governance, privacy, and security standards.

Partners with functional and technical teams to identify and assess opportunities for applying AI to improve service delivery, knowledge management, and process automation.
Conducts needs analyses and feasibility assessments to determine where AI integration can enhance efficiency, accuracy, and user experience.
Leads or participates in cross-functional projects focused on the design, testing, and deployment of AI-enabled tools and systems.
Applies project management methodologies to plan, track, and evaluate AI initiatives, ensuring timely implementation and alignment with divisional priorities.
Documents workflows, standard operating procedures, and implementation steps to support sustainable adoption of AI solutions.
Monitors emerging AI technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative approaches that advance institutional operational excellence.
Ensures all AI applications comply with university policies on data security, accessibility, and ethical use.

Establish methods to evaluate the effectiveness of AI educational initiatives and use those insights for continuous improvement. Continuously update your own knowledge of AI and pedagogy. Dedicate time to keep pace with the rapid developments in AI technology (such as, but not limited to, new algorithms, tools, AI-powered educational platforms) and in educational research on AI-literacy and digital learning.
As AI is a fast-evolving field, establish a process to review and refresh curriculum content regularly (e.g., each semester) to integrate new AI tools, updated guidelines, or merging use cases that are relevant to the university’s goals.
