As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will support the Ophthalmologist by performing various clinical and administrative tasks throughout the department. You willassistwith direct patient care as directed, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and at ease throughout their appointment and exam. In this role, your ability tofacilitatea welcoming environment can make a difference in the lives of Cleveland Clinic patients every day.

A caregiver in this position worksdays 8:00am to 5:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Receive and prepare patients for examination or treatment.
  • Perform initial patient examinations, ophthalmic testingproceduresand routine screening tests.
  • Assistphysicians with examinations and procedures.
  • Document patient informationintheir medical record.
  • Perform clerical, stocking,maintenanceand related duties.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • HighSchool Diploma/GED
  • One year of experience in an ophthalmic setting providing direct patient care ORadditionalformal training in Ophthalmology
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and PC.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
  • May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
  • Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $16.47

Maximum hourly: $23.61

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
