The University of South Carolina Lancaster, a Palmetto College campus of the University of South Carolina located approximately thirty-five (35) miles south of Charlotte, NC seeks candidates for a tenure track faculty position in Biology for a 9-month appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Biology beginning August 16, 2026.
The faculty member will normally teach twelve contact hours per semester or its equivalent, including labs, evening, and distributed learning courses as needed. The basic requirement is to teach biology courses for majors and non-majors suitable for freshmen and sophomore students, particularly courses focused on ecology, evolution, organismal diversity, and animal dissection. In addition to teaching these courses, there are opportunities to teach upper division courses in the University’s Palmetto College online bachelor’s degree programs. Candidates must be willing to teach dual credit high school students and at both main campus and potentially the Indian Land locations.
Assistant Professors must have a commitment to scholarship and university/community service.
Required Education and Experience
Applicants must have a PhD in biology or another appropriate degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in biology, including credentials necessary for departmental approval by the start date of employment (ABDs considered).
