Summary

The Department of Neurology is seeking a qualified Neurophysiological Technologist I to join our team. This position will support Electromyographic (EMG) Testing in an ambulatory setting.

This position is located at our McNair Campus.

Job Duties

  • Prepares patients for EMG testing by applying a variety of surface electrodes as required.
  • Obtains standard recordings as directed by the electromyographer.
  • Recognizes artifacts and takes appropriate action to eliminate them.
  • Describes all abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the test.
  • Obtains the patient's cooperation for the best performance of these procedures.
  • Makes appropriate calibration procedures of the EMG apparatus for standard recordings; inspects and assures proper maintenance of EMG needle and related equipment.
  • Recognizes and eliminates causes of electrical interference.
  • Provides nerve conduction training to rotating residents and participates in various research activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in physical, biological science or a related field.
  • Certified by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET).
