Principal Investigator, Dr. Michele Tagliati, is seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to join a dynamic team!
Dr. Tagliati is seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist talent who can support clinical trial development, neuroimaging and biomarker research, botulinum toxin, and deep brain stimulation research. The research interests of Michele Tagliati, MD, include the study of early and advanced therapeutics of Parkinson's disease, dystonia and other movement disorders. Tagliati pioneered the use of deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's and dystonia, and his work contributed advances in the definition of outcome predictors and therapeutic settings of DBS.
In this role, you will be working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other research staff members. You will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period. You may develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. You are also expected to analyze/interpret data and may assist in the preparation of grant proposals. This position participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author. This role is not responsible for generating grant funds.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs and performs experiments.
- Maintains experimental records and documentation and analyzes the results with the Principal Investigator.
- Analyzes, interprets, summarizes and compiles data.
- Operates and maintains equipment and instruments.
- May observe MD-patient or MD-human research subject interactions as it pertains directly to research being performed.
Department-Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- May collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams, including neurologists, sleep medicine specialists, neuroscientists, bioengineers, and neuroimaging scientists, to enhance translational research efforts.
- Will screen eligible patients with movement disorders for clinical trials, ensuring compliance with inclusion and exclusion criteria.
- May obtain informed consent and conduct standardized clinical assessments, including, MDS-UPDRS, NMSS, BFMDRS, and other validated movement disorder scales.
- May conduct research on DBS programming optimization, including machine learning-based algorithms for adaptive stimulation.
- Contributes to institutional grand rounds, journal clubs, and academic seminars to disseminate research findings within the department.
- Participates in professional development activities, including workshops on clinical research methodology, grant writing, and advanced statistical analysis.
Qualifications
Education:
Doctorate (PhD) in an area directly related to field of research specialization, required.
Experience and Skills:
- Works independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within area of specialization.
- Acquires technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during one to five (1-5) year post-doctoral appointment.
