The University Youth Camp Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the development of general college readiness programming for summer campers as part of the Lilly Endowment IYPC grant. The position will be responsible for hiring and training general session presenters, ensuring that safety protocols for campers are in place and followed, and support college offices with camp coordinator, managing housing, meals and family/student support activities. This position will also assist in developing partnerships with school districts in surrounding counties and to recruit targeted students to participate in camp programs to begin in summer of 2023. This is a grant funded position for a term of three years.

Job Function:
The University Youth Camp Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the development of general college readiness programming for summer campers as part of the Lilly Endowment IYPC grant. The position will be responsible for hiring and training general session presenters, ensuring that safety protocols for campers are in place and followed, and support college offices with camp coordinator, managing housing, meals and family/student support activities. This position will also assist in developing partnerships with school districts in surrounding counties and to recruit targeted students to participate in camp programs to begin in summer of 2023. Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in a related field.
Minimum Experience:
Experience related to a college or university camp and working on a college campus or experience in the operations of camp programs and program development.
Preferred Experience:
Five years of related experience in youth program planning and implementation including at least two years of supervisory experience required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with University faculty and staff to develop and refine courses to be offered during the summer camp programs and the one-day programs to be held through the academic year. Coordinate and oversee evening social events for the youth on-campus program in collaboration with college offices. Plan parent/guardian on-campus activities and end-of-camp picnics.
- Responsible for hiring general session presenters, camp coordinators, residential directors and student life counselors in accordance with the Unaccompanied Minor policy. Will be responsible for securing background checks for all program and camp staff in conjunction with university policies.
- Responsible for training all general session presenters, camp coordinators, residential directors and student life counselors in accordance with Ball State University's Unaccompanied Minors' Policy. Responsible for supplying training opportunities for staff and students working and chaperoning minors on-campus through the EduRisk platform. Ensure that all chaperones/activity leaders participating in the program review the information on the "Protecting Children Course Collection for Higher Ed" relating to their specific role.
- Develop a partnership with school districts and schools in Delaware, Randolph, Henry, Jay, Blackford, Madison, Wayne, Union, Rush and Fayette counties to recruit targeted students to participate in the proposed camp programs. Obtain referrals from teachers, guidance counselors, principals and other administrators. Host information tables at school parent nights, athletic events, etc. to share information about the campus.
- Work closely with Ball State Conferences and Special Events Office with camp coordination, managing housing, meals, and family/student support activities.
- Coordinate the purchase of supplies (such as printed materials, t-shirts, bags, and equipment needed for programming). Oversee financial management of the camp program.
- Work closely with Marketing and Communications in assisting with the marketing and recruitment effort for the program.
- Develop, administer, and manage evaluations of all programs including student and parent evaluations. Report and analyze results of evaluations in conjunction with grant requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
