The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, we provide dental education to the next generation of professionals by offering hands-on education through innovative research, patient care, and service. Join other dental providers to improve the oral health of Georgia and beyond. The DCG was founded to provide the people of Georgia with quality dental care by educating students in dentistry. As a patient, you have the option to receive treatment in one of our three different practice models consisting of student clinics, resident care, or in the faculty practice. All dental treatments can be completed by the specialists in our facility. We also serve patients in more than 20 clinics across Georgia.
Job Summary
The Assistant Director of DCG Operations will be critical in managing and optimizing the daily operations of various functional areas within the Dental College of Georgia, including Health Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, Front Desk Scheduling & Financials, and Clinical Dental Operations. This position requires a dynamic leader with a strong background in healthcare operations, technical management, financial oversight, and process improvement to ensure efficient, high-quality service delivery across these key departments.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
FRONT DESK SCHEDULING AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: Manage the scheduling processes for patient appointments across nine clinics (Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Endodontics, Oral Health, Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Periodontics, General Practice Residency, and Advance Education General Dentistry), ensuring smooth operations and minimizing wait times. Manage the front desk team to ensure high levels of customer service, proper handling of patient inquiries, and accurate scheduling. Manage front desk financial operations, including payment collection, insurance verification, and billing processes. Analyze financial performance, including billing and revenue cycle data, to identify areas for improvement and enhance financial outcomes. Develop and implement strategies to improve revenue cycle management, reduce claim denials, and enhance the overall patient billing experience.
HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (HIMS): Manage the deployment, optimization, and maintenance of DCG health informatics systems: dental EHR system (axiUm), medical EHR system (CareVoyant), PAC system (MiPACS), CAD/CAM system (Romexis), prescription system (eRx), patient communication and survey system (Intevio), call management system (Cisco Finesse), and payment system (TouchNet). Ensure the health IT systems support efficient clinical workflows, data collection, reporting, and decision-making. Collaborate with IT teams and clinical leadership to identify opportunities to leverage data analytics for improving patient care, operational efficiency, and clinical outcomes. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, ensuring patient data privacy and security across all digital platforms.
CLINICAL OPERATIONS: Manage the daily operations of nine clinics (Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Endodontics, Oral Health, Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Periodontics, General Practice Residency, and Advance Education General Dentistry), ensuring that workflows are efficient, patient care is timely, and all staff are aligned with organizational goals. Manage and mentor dental clinical staff, ensuring adherence to best practices, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines. Monitor the availability and management of dental supplies, equipment, and inventory to maintain operational efficiency. Collaborate with dental practitioners and clinical leadership to develop and refine protocols, ensuring alignment with quality care standards and organizational goals. Address patient concerns and complaints, seeking opportunities for service improvement and patient satisfaction.
BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING: Manage the maintenance, calibration, and repair of all medical and dental equipment in clinical settings, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, OSHA). Manage the lifecycle of medical devices, including procurement, maintenance, and replacement strategies. Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure the appropriate use of medical equipment and develop and implement strategies for equipment optimization and cost control. Manage vendor management, including contract negotiation and relationship building with suppliers and service providers.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Management, IT, or Healthcare related discipline with four years of administrative management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in personnel management. CBET certification. Work experience in higher education. Work experience in dental operations. Experience with Oracle-based enterprise systems. Experience with EHR and PAC systems. Experience in clinical scheduling. Experience with budgets.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Project Management and quality improvement principles/practices; knowledge of dental coding, billing, and insurance.
SKILLS
Strong analytical skills; database, spreadsheet, SQL, and reporting skills; general accounting principles; data research skills; and organizational skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to manage and motivate staff; ability to interpret blueprints; and ability to read schematics.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B14
Salary: Minimum $75,300/annual
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum midpoint) of the position.
