Job Description

Summary

The Chang Lab specializes on identifying activities selectively controlled by a given RAS protein. Research is focused on signal transduction medicated by RAS GTPases and their effect on controlling cell growth and tumor formation. The long-term goal of the laboratory is to translate laboratory findings into therapeutic strategies to treat RAS-driven cancers.The Research Technician will be proficient with various molecular biology techniques such as ChIP-PCR, IP, qRT-PCR, western blotting, FACS. They will also have extensive cell culture experience and be willing to learn new techniques as the projects develop. This is a full-time, in-person research position.

Job Duties

  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents results of experiments.
  • Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Orders laboratory supplies via SRM.
  • Complete Goods receipts in SAP
  • Clean lab equipment & monitor inventory
  • Performs experiments using cellular and molecular biology techniques.
  • Prepares figures and assists in writing reports related to experiments performed.
  • Prepare samples for DNA/RNA and protein analyses (mass spectrometry) from clinical trial samples.
  • Conduct tissue culture experiments, and assess cell growth and death in response to drug treatment.
  • Execute routine molecular biology experiments, such as western blot, cloning, PCR, qPCR.
  • Demonstrate reasonable proficiency in designing experiments, including control and data analysis.
  • Fulfill general lab management responsibilities alongside other lab members, including inventory maintenance, ordering supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a basic science or a related field.
  • Prior work experience in a molecular biology lab.
