Job Summary
The study start-up coordinator is the initial point-of-contact for all new studies opened within the Georgia Cancer Center Clinical Trials office and receives, processes, and routes all study documents needed for start-up as well as serves as the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee (PRMC) and Feasibility Committee (FC) coordinator. The study start-up coordinator also trains new site study personnel to ensure they meet all regulatory guidelines and standards before commencing work on their study responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
START-UP COORDINATOR: Point-of-contact for all new studies' receipt of study documents such as CDAs, CTAs; regulatory and budget documents for each study. Reviews, tracks, and routes these documents to the appropriate personnel for processing. Develops and delivers training on committee review procedures and submission requirements for various members of the AU clinical research community. Assesses PRMS practices for alignment with federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices related to data safety and monitoring. Has a working knowledge of GCP and code of federal regulations. Participates in ongoing clinical research performance improvement initiatives. Keeps abreast of new internal and external developments related to clinical research scientific and safety review. Onboards new staff (coordinating the completion of research-required training such as CITI, Biosafetv, etc.)
MEETING COORDINATOR: Manages day-to-day operations of the PRMC and FC, proactively identifying and implementing solutions to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and timeliness of office procedures. Manages PRMC review processes of new protocols, prepares forms and reports, and communicates with investigators, reviewers, committees, and support staff. Audits information for accuracy and completeness. Identifies issues, composes queries, and facilitates solutions. Uses established metrics and participates in the development of new metrics to monitor investigator compliance with PRMC-required processes and investigator/administrator error rates. Identifies modifications to training and communication activities as well as policies and procedures to address these proficiencies as part of ongoing quality improvement effort. Uses quantitative and qualitative metrics, along with various forms of stakeholder feedback, to identify improvement opportunities and implement process improvements. Authors and revises the PRMC and FC charter, policies, and procedures as needed. Leads efforts to improve compliance with policies and procedures. Assures that all relevant information is communicated to committee chairpersons, principal investigators, the IRB, CTO, and other relevant groups.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties/tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university.
OR
Completion of two years of college level coursework with two years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience related to clinical setting or research setting.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Detail-oriented with strong prioritization, multi-tasking, organizational, problem-solving and time-management skills.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday
Pay Band: B6
Salary Minimum: $18.85 - $21.26
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
