The Department of Physical Therapy at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia, invites applications for a full-time, 12-month position as core faculty in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. Our program boasts a long history of excellence and a large network of strong clinical relationships. We are committed to cultivating a welcoming environment for all learners, faculty, and staff and accept one cohort of 42 students annually.
Primary responsibilities include patient care and clinical instruction at our pro bono clinic, creating and expanding community partnerships for experiential learning for our DPT program, and teaching in one's area of expertise. Additionally, participation in scholarship and service is expected. Candidates must be committed to learner-centered education and working cooperatively with faculty and staff. This is a non-tenure track position.
Responsibilities
Provide instruction for students in the Physical Therapy Program. Effort will be made up of instruction, scholarship, service and clinical practice. Instruction will consist of didactic and clinical environments. The person chosen for this position will participate in scholarship activities to include research, presentations, and publications and participate in service to the institution, college and department by serving on committees at all levels.
Required Qualifications
A DPT degree is required.
Current, unrestricted physical therapist licensure in the United States and eligibility for physical therapist licensure in Georgia are requirements for the position. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with various populations and the ability to work collaboratively are required.
Assistant Professor- early-level career as a faculty member 0-4 years experience in related field.
Associate Professor- mid-level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications
Clinical specialization in neurology and experience as a clinical instructor is preferred.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
