The per diem day position typically works 3 shifts per week as needed.

The Patient Transport Tech I will transport patients to various areas of the Medical Center. A patient transporter is also responsible for transporting patient care equipment in a 24-hour operation, 7 days a week. Functions include positioning, transferring, and transporting patients to and from various departments or locations by wheelchair, bed, gurney or ambulette. This involves lifting, turning, transferring, and repositioning patients requiring moderate assistance to total assistance. There may be limited clerical duties for the transport function. Other role requirements may include patient care equipment movement, specimens, maintenance, and cleaning or disinfection, assisting in the management of decedent affairs, and other activities as directed. Assignments may vary between day and night shift, and participation in weekend coverage is required.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Transport patients to and from nursing units and ancillary departments.
  • Respectfully and carefully transport deceased to the morgue.
  • Safely transport patients in City of Hope vehicles.
  • Practice outstanding customer service with patients and families.
  • Support the mission of City of Hope through safety, care, and dedication to patients and families.

Your qualifications should include:

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
  • One year in a similar healthcare position or customer service field.
  • BLS certification from American Heart Association obtained within three weeks of hire
  • Current Driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Outstanding customer service.

Additional Information

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $21.96 - $28.70 / hour
