Job Description

The Glick Center for Glass Director oversees and serves as spokesperson for the public operations of the Center. They develop programs for K-12 and adult learners, curate the teaching collection of glass art, manage grants, and engage in fundraising efforts.

Ball State University's School of Art welcomes applications for Director of the Marilyn K. Glick Center for Glass.
Salary and benefit packages for this position are competitive, with salaries for this opportunity beginning at $55,000 annually.

Job Function:

The Glick Center for Glass Director oversees and serves as spokesperson for the public operations of the Center. They develop programs for K-12 and adult learners, curate the teaching collection of glass art, manage grants, and engage in fundraising efforts.

Minimum Education:

Master’s degree in Glass, Sculpture, Studio Art, Art History, Arts Administration, or a related field by date of employment.

Minimum Experience:

Two years of experience working in a glass art studio or community arts organization.

Preferred Experience:

One semester of teaching experience at the college level
Demonstrated experience with fundraising and/or grant writing

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs for university students, K-12 students, community groups, and the public, with a focus on providing learning opportunities in a compelling and creative manner in collaboration with Center and SOA faculty and staff, the BSU Office of Community Engagement (OCE), and community partners.
  • Manage all funded and active grants related to the Center, including expenditures, approvals, cost-sharing, and reporting, in conjunction with Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) and the SOA Director.
  • Generate applications and proposals for grants, gifts, and other funding resources, in collaboration with SPA, the SOA Director, and the BSU Foundation.
  • Serve as curator for the glass teaching collection, including keeping records, managing storage, and coordinating the display of and access to these important works of art.
  • Serve as spokesperson for the Center, including developing and maintaining the Center’s website and promoting and reporting on the Center’s activities, in collaboration with SOA and College of Fine Arts faculty and staff.
  • Provide oversight and support for public activities of the Center, including open hours, tours, and demonstrations.
  • Supervise and assign work to student workers.
  • Teach up to one class per semester in glass, sculpture, studio art, art history, arts administration, or a related field.
  • Other related duties based on programmatic need and the expertise of the individual hired individual may be assigned.
