The Pharmacist is a licensed professional who provides safe and optimal comprehensive patient care. The Pharmacist ensures federal, state, and local requirements, including all standards required by regulatory bodies such as The Joint Commission, are met. The Pharmacist will perform medication management activities including analyzing, verification, monitoring, compounding, and dispensing. The Pharmacist will serve as the medication management expert by providing accurate drug information to providers, nurses, and other clinical staff. The individual will supervise technicians during the shift and assist with training/education for pharmacy staff. It is expected that the Pharmacist will collaborate with colleagues and provide excellent customer service to patients and staff. Additional duties may include quality and performance improvement activities or others as determined by Pharmacy Leadership.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Support and promote the efforts of all care providers to deliver quality care.
  • Promote the delivery of quality care consistent with the scope of practice of the discipline.
  • Ensure self-competence and promotes adherence to professional practice standards through education, training, coaching and monitoring.
  • Participate with the Director and managers in the implementation and evaluation of new services/programs.
  • Supervise personnel and personally delivers pharmaceutical care and service/ information/ medication/ products by serving as a role model and through effective use of change-agent strategies.
  • Supervision of Pharmacy Technician to ensure compliance with cleanroom standards, accuracy of medication inventory and accuracy of IV compounded products.
  • Keep up-to-date with USP 797 & 800 guidelines and work with interdisciplinary team to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain Pharmacy Technician IV compounding annual competencies.
  • Effectively communicates/educates all customers to meet organizational goals and customer service expectations.
  • Maintain current knowledge, skills and competencies through involvement in professional continuing education activities.
  • Manage/supervise the efficient and effective utilization of resources and staff (technicians, students, interns, etc.) and serves as a role model in training programs.
  • Fosters involvement in performance improvement activities to promote continuous improvement in care delivery.
  • Demonstrates assimilation of core organizational values within own performance.
  • Monitor drug therapy; recommends alternate more efficient drug therapy when appropriate.
  • Prepare and dispense medications in strict adherence to department policies and procedures.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Graduate of ACPE-accredited Pharmacy School or School with ACPE accreditation pending
  • Current CA Pharmacist License
  • BLS through the American Heart Association (or within 3 months of hire)

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $64.10 - $107.05 / hour
