Description:Saint Mary's College invites applications for two positions at the rank of Assistant Professor of Economics.
The Economics Department at St. Mary's College invites applications for two (2) full-time tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor rank, beginning July 1, 2025. We seek dynamic and highly qualified individuals to join our team in the AACSB-accredited School of Economics and Business Administration. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about teaching at a small liberal arts institution, engaging in collaborative research with colleagues and students, and immersing themselves in a vibrant and diverse collegiate community. The successful candidates will contribute to the department's mission by delivering high-quality instruction, innovative research, and actively participating in departmental and College service.

Responsibilities:
  1. Teaching and Curriculum Development
  • Deliver engaging and rigorous undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in Economics, including but not limited to Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and specialized electives within the candidate's area of expertise.
  • Develop, update, and maintain course materials, syllabi, and assessments.
  • Mentor and advise students, helping them achieve academic and career goals.
  1. Research and Scholarship
  • Conduct high-quality, original research leading to publications in peer-reviewed academic journals.
  • Pursue research funding opportunities through grants and other external sources.
  • Present findings at academic conferences, seminars, and public forums.

3. Service and Community Engagement
  • Participate in department and college-wide meetings, committees, and activities to enhance the department's academic environment.
  • Collaborate with other faculty on interdisciplinary research and initiatives.
  • Engage with the community and contribute to the public understanding of economics through outreach and partnerships.

4. Professional Development
  • Stay current in the field of Economics by actively engaging in scholarly activities.
  • Participate in professional organizations and contribute to academic networks.

Saint Mary's faculty are expected to maintain an active scholarly agenda and demonstrate intellectual growth and significant achievement appropriate to their field. Salary Range
The salary range for this position is reflected in the Faculty Salary Scale, available here. In addition to base pay, salary supplementals are offered for these disciplines as determined by current Faculty Salary policies in consultation with the Dean and Provost. The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $114,600.
Qualifications:
Education: Ph.D. in Economics or a related field at time of appointment (as of July 1, 2025)
Experience: Evidence of teaching effectiveness and a strong research record or potential.
Skills:
Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SAS).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative academic environment.
