Create, enhance, implement and maintain the campus-wide outreach and communication strategy of the Office of Research, Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) and Office of Research Integrity (ORI). The OSEC will create content celebrating research and sponsored projects for websites, blog, newsletters, and communications center; create marketing toolkits for programs and office services; coordinate events, training and educational programs; provide updates and maintenance to website; and supervise a graduate assistant.

Job Function:
Create, enhance, implement and maintain the campus-wide outreach and communication strategy of the Office of Research, Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) and Office of Research Integrity (ORI). The OSEC will create content celebrating research and sponsored projects for websites, blog, newsletters, and communications center; create marketing toolkits for programs and office services; coordinate events, training and educational programs; provide updates and maintenance to website; and supervise a graduate assistant.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's or master's degree in journalism, public relations, media design, communication, marketing or related field.
Minimum Experience:
One year of related experience.
Preferred Experience:
Three or more years of related experience; higher education experience; Supervisory experience; demonstrated experience and proficiency in planning and coordinating large events; project management experience; user experience design concepts; experience in maintaining and developing digital platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a marketing and communication strategy for the Office of Research, SPA (Sponsored Programs Administration), and ORI (Office of Research Integrity), managing the day-to-day activities to support the office goals and strategic plan while adhering to the university brand and style guidelines across all platforms and content. Serve as office designated liaison to University Marketing and Communications. Regularly consult with Office of Research staff, faculty, colleagues, departments, and other stakeholders to curate content for specific programs, audiences, events, and objectives. Serve as office representative on Alumni Editorial Board.
- Develop basic communications, as well as coordinate the dissemination of relevant and timely information to campus using appropriate (both print and digital) communication channels that convey a clear understanding of audiences' unique needs. Provide award press releases to University Marketing and Communications, and other award information to relevant colleges.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage all logistics of campus-wide Office of Research events, including room reservations, catering, invitation and RSVP lists; Current events include: CHIRPS week and Student Symposium, Benefacta, Administrative Coordinator Luncheons, and Professor Recognition receptions.
- Coordinate the overall implementation of campus-wide education and training offerings of including: participating in and delivering trainings as appropriate; identifying audiences and tracking attendance; securing speakers, collaborating with departments and colleges to organize and schedule relevant educational programs.
- Design and implement all outreach services and materials for the Office of Research, SPA, and ORI, including, but not limited to: web content management, email announcements, internal communications, PolicyTech, calendar and events, social media, attendance/engagement analytics and reporting.
- Coordinate all Office of Research internal events.
- Assemble, oversee and lead committees to support event planning, ensuring all collaboration stakeholders and units are represented. Evaluate post-event and provide recommendations for improvement on such areas as; ways to better reach the intended audiences and how to increase the impact through modalities, speakers, locations, and targeted engagement and messaging. Research and create opportunities for future information sessions.
- Supervise, orient, train, and assign work to the Marketing and Outreach Graduate Assistant, and make recommendations in all areas related to supervision, including but not limited to interviewing and selection, compensation, discipline, performance appraisal, and training and career development of personnel.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
