City of Hope Medical Group Seeks Section Chief of our Head & Neck Cancers Programs (Medical Oncology)

Our rapidly expanding, nationally recognized cancer institute we seek to hire a full time Head and Neck Medical Oncologist – Section Chief to join City of Hope’s Department of Medical Oncology at our main campus in Duarte, CA. We are seeking mission-minded physicians as every discovery we make and every new treatment we create, gives people the chance to live longer, better, and more fully.

This position is a rare opportunity to work in a 450+ member integrated, multidisciplinary Medical Group practice serving an NCI designated comprehensive cancer center in highly desirable Southern California. City of Hope is an expanding institution in both numbers of patients per year as well as infrastructure investment in clinical, academic and research facilities.

Position Highlights:

  • Full-time hours, working with a dynamic medical oncology group providing services inhead and neck cancers alongside our renowned pathologists, radiation oncologists, and surgical oncologists
  • Primary clinical responsibility (mainly outpatient with some inpatient) in the care of patients with head and neck cancers including other thoracic malignancies
  • Join an established practice with an available patient panel.
  • Clinic based at Duarte main campus
  • Protected research/academic time in a highly translational research environment with extensive clinical trial infrastructure
  • Teaching responsibilities, training both fellows specializing in the broader area of medical oncology as well asfellows training for a career specifically in Head & Neck Oncology.
  • Provide vision and leadership in research and clinical care delivery throughout the enterprise that will further advance our reputation and delivery of care on the national stage.
  • Expand and scale clinical trials and translational research to patients throughout City of Hope enterprise.

Base Salary: $350k - $425k (base pay commensurate with qualified academic rank).The salary range listed is exclusively for base compensation for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits. Actual compensation will be adjusted for experience, training, hospital/community need and other factors.

Qualifications:

· Experience working in an academic medical center that delivers both clinical and translational research to patients diagnosed with cancer (preferred)

· Be well versed in the state of cancer care and the latest research and innovations

· Reputation as a physician and clinical or translational researcher in head and neck cancers as evidenced by strong, funded research history and publications in H-Index journals

· Experience in the development and conduct of clinical trials and proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary research teams

· Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree, fellowship trained, and Board certified/eligible in Hematology & Medical Oncology

· The selected candidate for the position must be eligible to obtain or already hold an active California medical license
