Summary

The Behavioral Science Research Coordinator II will conduct day to day activities of extramurally funded psychosocial and behavioral science research projects focusing on improving health equity and outcomes in cancer control and survivorship. These activities include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants; and, ensuring accurate survey and interview data collection and documentation. The research coordinator will assist with the conduct data cleaning and analysis, preparation of protocol amendments, and preparing research reports as needed.

The ideal candidate for this position will be an enthusiastic, outgoing, go-getter who is focused on achieving project metrics and is detail oriented. Flexibility in response to changing priorities, ability to multitask and work independently, and excellent oral and written communication skills are also key.

A flexible work arrangement, including some in-office days and 1 or 2 remote days per week, is possible after the training period.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for screening, recruiting, and consenting research participants. This involves identifying cancer patients from institutional databases, coordinating with physician collaborators to contact patients and caregivers in the clinic for the purpose of recruitment, explaining and educating patients/caregivers about the study protocol, and registering study participants on the protocol. Recruitment may be at any clinic affiliates of the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center or other sites in the Texas Medical Center depending on project needs.
  • Conducts patient screening and abstracts data from the EPIC electronic health record system; processes documents and enters information into institutional and research databases including ONCORE and Microsoft Access and Excel databases that have been developed specifically for the study.
  • Conducts research interviews and ensures subjects complete study milestones.
  • Assists the PI in entering, cleaning, coding, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative research data.
  • Assists with protocol amendments in BRAIN.
  • Assists with preparing research reports as needed.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in public health or a related social science field is preferred.
  • Experience in public health and community outreach.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
