Job Description

Summary

The Boeynaems lab seeks a Research Assistant I to study how protein condensation is implicated in the etiology of neurodegenerative disease and brain cancer. The work includes cell culture, microscopy, and mouse husbandry and experimentation.

Job Duties

  • Plans, executes and conducts protocols for research experiments, including but not limited to cell culture, microscopy, mass spectrometry, immunofluorescence, DNA preparation, and general lab techniques.
  • Maintains the mouse colony and assists graduate students with mouse experimentation, including but not limited to surgery, tissue collection and processing, and immunostaining.
  • Collects, compiles, analyzes and presents data to the PI and other lab members.
  • Handles administrative and organizational lab management duties include assisting PI with administration, tracking inventory, organizing lab events, documenting and storing critical reagents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Proficient in mouse studies.
  • Strong organizational and experimental skills.
  • Communicative and able to work well in a team.
