Located conveniently in Augusta's downtown medical community, Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home provides continuous professional nursing care to veterans of Georgia who have served in the armed forces during war times. The home is owned and funded by the Georgia Department of Veterans Service and operated through an interagency agreement with Augusta University. Through this association, Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home is considered a leader in the area of geriatric educational training for Augusta University.
Job Summary
The Environmental Services Technician in this position is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing assigned resident care, administrative, rehabilitative and visitor areas in a long- term care facility.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
JANITORIAL DUTIES: Perform a variety of cleaning tasks within an assigned work area to include dust and wet mop floors, clean and disinfect restrooms and showers daily with germicidal solution. Remove spots and spillage from patient floors and corridors. Clean chairs, bedside cabinets, bed trays and other exposed areas. Spot clean and sanitize walls, doors and door hinges, sills, and knobs. Terminal clean units upon patient discharge, cleaning closets and bedside cabinets. Participate in special cleaning projects as directed by supervisor.
CHEMICAL/BIOHAZARDOUS DUTIES: Collect and transport biohazardous waste to designated area.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization.
OR
One year of experience in a similar position in a commercial, hospital or industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in environmental cleaning, particularly in a healthcare environment.

KNOWLEDGE
Good communication skills and ability to interact positively with the elderly population.
SKILLS
Verbal skills as they relate to effective communication with employees, residents, staff, visitors and other customers they will encounter during the course of a workday and the ability to interact positively with the elderly.
ABILITIES
Ability to work well in a team environment
Ability to perform to established standards
Ability to follow oral instructions and written procedures
Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize work to provide a clean environment and promote resident, staff and visitor safety
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Monday-Friday
Pay Band: B1
Salary: Minimum $15.00/ hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
