College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.
Job Summary
Job Posting Refresh The position will provide clinical expertise to enhance and facilitate research activities in the DOM research unit.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Support research initiatives and be responsible for reviewing charts and screening patients for potential study participation.
  • Scheduling patient visits, laboratory tests, and procedures; conducting study procedures including blood draws and preparation of specimens for shipment and testing; reading laboratory results; assessing patients general health; conducting physical examinations; maintaining accurate records of reportable adverse events and associated signs/symptoms and schedule any required follow-up procedures for resolution of adverse events.
  • Ensuring compliance with institutional, local, state, federal, and sponsor regulations; completing all reports; preparing case report forms and regulatory documents.
  • Perform all other job-related duties/tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia, and a minimum of three years of clinical experience in a specialized area. Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification OR Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia, and a minimum of six years of clinical experience in a specialized area. Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Current GA nursing license
Current BLS and ACLS certification at time of hire
Completion of CITI Program (learner group 1 FDA regulated research)
Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) or eligibility to take certification exam
Additional years' of nursing experience, specifically in a hospital setting
Pediatric nursing experience and clinical research experience highly desirable
Ability to communicate/educate various patient populations using a variety of mediums and methods
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Must be self-motivated
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Detail-oriented with strong prioritization, organizational, typing and multi-tasking skills
Knowledge of good clinical practices and IRB requirements; basic clinical skills; patient evaluation procedures; medical terminology
Ability to maintain confidentiality; interpret lab tests/x-rays; exercise sound judgment and make responsible decisions; work independently; and work flexible hours to include, early mornings, after hours, nights and weekends, and on-call two weeks per month.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Rotating (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position) Pay Band: B13 Salary: Min $68,500 - $75,000 Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
