Job Summary
The CARE Case Manager is a collaborative member of the Office of the Dean of Students. The Case Manager is responsible for providing direct service, crisis intervention, and empowerment-based advocacy with expertise regarding administrative options and resources for students in crisis, distress, and of concern. Supports student success and retention by coordinating services for students who have CARE concerns. Provides ongoing support through regular check-ins and referrals. Assists students and their families (as necessary) in navigating the University's processes, including any applicable policies and procedures. The Case Manager serves as an active member of the CARE Team and also assists with planning, outreach, and preparing reports for senior leaders and other campus partners.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
SERVE AS A PRIMARY RESOURCE FOR STUDENTS IN DISTRESS: Provide advocacy and support for students who may be experiencing emotional, physical, educational, and cultural challenges. Work directly with students to identify and respond to concerns by presenting options to students, making appropriate referrals, and connecting students with the appropriate university department(s). Help students navigate institutional policies and processes, and discuss options based on each individual case. Empower students to take full advantage of the many university resources available to them. Seeks to assist students to become self-actualized members of the community and encourages a growth mindset.
ASSISTS STUDENTS REFERRED TO CARE TEAM: Assists students referred to CARE Team for follow-up and provide information back to the CARE Team. Will meet regularly with students who are being monitored by the Team. Serves as a member of the CARE Team and assist with management of CARE database to make notes and manages student caseload. Provide support, outreach, crisis intervention, and threat management with expertise, resources, and referrals. May need to work with student's families as necessary.
THE CASE MANAGER COLLABORATES FREQUENTLY WITH STAFF MEMBERS: The Case Manager collaborates frequently with staff members in Student Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Health Services, Testing and Disability Services, Housing and Residence Life, the Academic Success Center, and other campus and community entities to support student success.
MANAGE RECORD KEEPING THROUGH ELECTRONIC REPORTING DATABASE: Manage record keeping through an electronic reporting database system, making sure all correspondence and action items are accurately documented and relevant to compliance with University, local, State, and Federal guidelines on reporting and deadlines. Maintain a comprehensive overview of students identified as being in distress. Maintain and analyze CARE Team data for reports and presentations documenting campus and national trends.
ASSIST THE AVP AND DEAN OF STUDENTS AND ASSOCIATE DEAN OF STUDENTS: Assist the AVP and Dean of Students and Associate Dean of Students as needed. Serve as a backup for medical and hardship withdrawal approval and assist with the medical and hardship withdrawal process by working with students through the process.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in related field and one year of experience in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, social work, public health, health promotion, or related field. Experience in counseling, social work, health promotion, wellness, or related field.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, and customer service skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to build relationships with both campus and non-campus partners, gain rapport quickly with students in crisis, and work closely with students to provide support.
Ability to work at multiple campus locations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday-Friday
Pay Band: B7
Salary: $20.29/hr - $23.58/hr
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position

Conditions of Employment
