Job Summary
The Coordinator of Student Involvement (Student Union) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Jaguar Student Activities Center (JSAC). This role includes managing event services and reservations, onboarding and training student employees, and handling overall facility management. The coordinator manages institutional processes related to the recruitment, hiring, performance management, timekeeping, and termination of 30+ student employees. The coordinator also assists in the maintenance and upkeep of the union to ensure a safe environment for faculty, staff, and students. Using student feedback, campus colleague perspectives, and evidence-based practices, the coordinator works diligently to promote a welcoming student union experience. The Coordinator of Student Involvement: Student Unions will also be called upon to serve as an engaged member of our cross-functional team. They are expected to be a productive member of our collaborative environment, ultimately focusing on the creation of a thriving campus environment for all of our students.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
OVERSEE THE RECRUITMENT, ONBOARDING, AND TRAINING OF STUDENT: Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and develop 30+ student employees to efficiently staff the Jaguar Student Activity Center. Perform biweekly timekeeping responsibilities that reflect time accuracy and adherence to all university, local, state, and federal policies and laws. Provide ongoing support and feedback to student employees to enhance their performance and development. Development and implement training programs to ensure student employees are knowledgeable about their role and customer service expectations. Develop and oversee a positive recognition program that encourages peer-to-peer. Research and implement best practices in Student Affairs regarding student employment and the functionality of student center spaces.
PROVIDE SPACE AND EVENT CONSULTATIONS TO REGISTERED STUDENTS: Effectively schedule and coordinate a variety of events and activities within the student center, including student organization events and university functions. Serves as the primary point of contact for event organizers, providing guidance on logistics, space usage, and resource needs. Develop and implement event policies and procedures to ensure successful and efficient event execution. Oversee the rental equipment process for event services. Ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
MONITOR AND ENSURE THE OVERALL INVENTORY, SAFETY AND FUNCTION: Coordinate with maintenance and custodial staff to address facility issues. Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify and address any areas needing improvement or repair. Ensure all audio/visual equipment is in good standing order. Ensure all event service equipment and student center furniture are in good standing order. Regularly monitor all event services inventory for the student center through the tracking system. Generate reports on facility usage, event outcomes, and student-employee performance.
PARTICIPATE AND ASSIST WITH OTHER FUNCTIONS: Participate and assist with other functions of the Department of Student Life & Engagement.
OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of work experience in either rapid customer issue resolution, facility management, and/or training and administrative operations.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience in organizing, coordinating, and executing events. Experience in handling operational tasks such as enforcing policies, tracking inventory, or monitoring technical support (i.e., audio/visual, computers, etc.). Experience in onboarding, training, and managing team members, staff, or volunteers. Ability to advise, teach, and coach university students. Demonstrated organizational skills, speaking, facilitation, and presentation skills. Ability to supervise student staff. Ability to collaborate and develop partnerships with various university departments, faculty, staff, and student organizations. The ability to easily relate with people projects a feeling of confidence and competence and handles stressful situations with ease and in a most professional manner. Willingness to adjust the personal schedule to the needs of the student union and the necessity to observe, participate in, and evaluate programs. Understanding and demonstrated commitment to programs and activities that support the campus community.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday-Friday (work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B7
Salary: $43,888/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
