Job Profile Summary

Under limited supervision, this project funded by The Strada Grant, provides employment services for Broward UP participants which includes matching job openings to participants, career readiness coaching, the development of a long-term career plan and placement services. Works with a case load of participants, employers, and placement agent partners to develop work experiences and job placement opportunities. Serves as a liaison between employers and participants and is responsible for matching job skills with application qualifications and referring qualified applicants to employers. Responsible for scheduling interviews for participants; prepare participants through mock interviews, resume building, and helps to eliminate barriers to employment. Promotes the college's job posting website to local employers and program participants and facilitates the placement process for participants and graduates including internships and apprenticeship programs. Conducts follow-up when applicants are placed in positions and maintains case load of all participants stages of employment.
This is a temporary position which is contingent upon continuation of grant funding. The incumbent is subject to annual performance evaluations.

  

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Preferably in Business Administration, Education or related field.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Six years of experience working with students, employers, and community agencies.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of the local labor market as well as can network and pursue job leads.
  • Presentation/workshop skills a must.

Essential Functions:

  • Daily - 20%: Responds to student inquiries (in a timely manner) via telephone and/or email and refers students to jobs that match their field of study and career goals; advises and coaches participants on their career choice and the development of a long-term career plan. Refers students to the college’s online job posting website and facilitates the placement process. Tracks stages of progress of candidate’s placement.
  • Daily - 20%: Helps conduct or refer students to workshops such as resume writing, interviewing skills, job search strategies, dress etiquette, and internship/apprenticeship opportunities for those in their caseload. Matches funding to barriers to employment of participants; clothing, food insecurity, transportation, licensing, IDs, email, and laptops.
  • Daily - 15%: Builds relationships and a database of employers to invite to Job Fairs, campus recruitment, targeted CTE Career Fairs, etc. Refers employers to the college’s job bank website for position postings. Respond to employer inquiries in a timely manner regarding student's resumes, job/internship/apprenticeship posting questions, and interview outcomes, etc. Tracks hires with employers for weekly reporting
  • Monthly - 10%: Works with events coordinator and communications coordinator to provide job opportunities to program participants; develops brochures and media information to be distributed to employers and students
  • Monthly - 10%: Attends Job Developer, Job Fairs, and Business meetings and/or events; serves as a liaison to Advisory Board Committees and program managers for possible job leads and to keep abreast of occupations in demand, job trends, and labor market information using Labor Market Information software, track applicant and interview outcomes
  • Monthly - 10%: Assists in coordinating, planning, and hosting job fairs college wide.
  • Daily - 10%: Establishes, maintains, and updates files, databases, records, and/or other documents for the grant in a manner that ensures preservation of the integrity, validity, and accuracy of unit data.
  • Other (As Needed) - 5%: Performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of post-secondary education administrative principles and practices, and office procedures.
  • Ability to assess situations, utilize problem solving techniques and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to build relationships with local employers and students.
  • Ability to conduct high energy, interactive workshops/presentations.
  • Fully proficient in professional and functional standards and has in-depth functional knowledge and expertise in area of specialization and general knowledge of related areas in the College.
  • Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Requires advanced knowledge of computerized systems and operating environments i.e., Microsoft Office Products, job boards and CRM databases.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills used appropriately influence the decision-making of individuals and groups at all levels in the College
  • Ability to plan and manage own work flow, priorities and results accomplishment
  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with a diverse employee and student population.
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of the Broward County community.
  • Familiar with rules and regulations of justice involved individuals.
