Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: We are seeking exceptional candidates committed to teaching introductory and intermediate-level mathematics and collaborating with teams of instructors to teach and coordinate college mathematics.



Minimum requirements:

A doctoral degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field; for candidates whose doctoral degree is not in mathematics, a minimum of 12 credits in graduate-level mathematics is required;
Strong commitment to and potential for excellence in teaching;
Strong interest in teaching introductory college mathematics courses (e.g., Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus);
Strong commitment to teaching a diverse population of students;
A record of scholarship and plans for continued engagement in the scholarship of teaching and learning or in a research area within mathematics.
Preferred qualifications:

Experience as the instructor of record for introductory or intermediate-level college mathematics courses;
Evidence of excellence in teaching;
Experience teaching mathematics to a diverse student population;
Strong teamwork skills and/or experience working with teaching assistants.


Primary responsibilities will include:

Teaching introductory and intermediate-level mathematics courses (e.g., Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Engineering Math, Linear Algebra, ODE, Probabilities);
Coordinating large multi-section courses in calculus and other introductory mathematics courses.
Mentoring less experienced instructors, including teaching assistants.
Refining shared curricula for introductory mathematics courses.




MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES AT UD: The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Delaware is within the College of Arts and Sciences.
