What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Manager, Subcontract Audit to join our team.

We are seeking an individual to lead and manage the Subcontract Audit department to provide assurance and advisory services aligned with Sandia’s strategic management objectives to provide independent, objective assurance and consulting activities designed to add value and improve an organization’s operations. This is accomplished by providing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and recommend improvements to operational, risk management, control, and governance processes involving Sandia’s audit and settlement of contracts and subcontracts that support the mission of the Laboratories. Subcontract Audit provides Procurement and the line organizations the necessary accounting and financial services needed to support the negotiation, administration, and settlement of costs for auditable contracts and subcontracts.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Develop and oversee execution of the annual subcontract audit plan designed to identify, communicate, and mitigate risks.
  • Oversee a team of professional contract auditors with diverse subject matter expertise to evaluate and recommend improvements in subcontract audit areas including accounting, budgeting, financial analysis and reporting.
  • Interact with all levels of Sandia leadership, internal and external audit clients, the Board of Managers Audit and Ethics Committee, Department of Energy (DOE) sites and plants, and with the DOE / National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Officials on matters associated with audits, risks and advisory services.
  • Serve as a key element in Sandia’s assurance system, providing insight and inputs into risks, issues, opportunities, and strategy.
  • Connect the work and expertise of the organization with potential beneficiaries, collaborators, and stakeholders, including partnering with various laboratory risk and assessment groups.
  • Promote excellence by managing and coordinating audit deliverables, overall program and project plans, budgets, structures, schedules, and staffing requirements.
  • Guide, manage, and develop members of the workforce, within the organization, including hiring, professional development, and assessment and performance management, consistent with mission of the organization.
  • Counsel and assist employees and management on government legislation, DOE contractual compliance, and Sandia policies or procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Evaluate and recommend innovative approaches to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness through partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Develop scope of work for and monitors consultant contracts.
  • Ensure assurance activities are performed in accordance with auditing standards and office policies, as appropriate.
  • Interpret and apply regulations and contractual requirements.

The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Salary Range:

$127,900 - $217,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience, plus, (8) or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • One year of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge and application of auditing principles and professional standards.
  • Experience in effective use of modern audit management tools and techniques such as electronic working papers, Computer Assisted Audit Techniques (CAATs), word processors, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a diverse team to meet organizational mission and objectives.
  • Working knowledge of Sandia's subcontracting practices and business/financial operations.
  • Professional experience and/or a Master’s Degree or higher in business, finance, information technology, audit, accounting, risk management or related field.
  • Professional experience performing and/or overseeing audits or assessments.
  • Experience working with TeamMate or similar audit management software.
  • Professional certification in audit, accounting, risk management or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships.

About Our Team:

Contract Audit is responsible for the audit and settlement of contracts and subcontracts that support the mission of the Laboratories. We provide Procurement and the line organizations the necessary accounting and financial services needed in the negotiation, administration, and settlement of costs for auditable contracts and subcontracts.

Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
