What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Information Systems Architect to interact with multiple technical areas across IT with a solid understanding of networking, VPN, firewalls, WAN/LAN technologies, and communication protocols.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Implement collaborative expertise to design, deploy, operate, maintain, and solve all enterprise network problems relating to network services and traffic controls
  • Work with SNL Corporate networks, remote SNL and business partner networks, and emerging purpose-built enclaves
  • Partner with Cyber Security and Networking teams to architect and engineer custom design network flow and behavior solutions
  • Troubleshoot and identify workflow, traffic, and service impacts

The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Salary Range:

$70,200 - $157,500

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Assurance or a related field; or equivalent (AS + 4 years or no degree plus 8 years)
  • Experience in Campus Networking
  • Experience with various network devices, design, trouble shooting, maintenance and network communication protocols
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience of network equipment from various vendors such as Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto, Zscaler and Juniper
  • Experience in the following
  • Security Implementation
  • Security Devices
  • Packet Analysis and Advanced Troubleshooting
  • Network Automation
  • Extensive knowledge of network equipment from various vendors
  • Experience with protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTPS, IPSec, SNMP, VXLAN and other related protocols
  • Proficient with network automation, version control solutions, and their standard processes (Ansible, Python, YAML, and GitLab)
  • IT Service Management, Network and Project Management Certifications (such as CCNP, JNCIA, ITIL Foundations, PMP, etc.)

The Enterprise Network Services department is responsible for providing secure, consistent, and highly available network infrastructure services to meet Sandia’s core corporate and mission IT needs. By providing a cost optimized and universally available experience, regardless of location, Enterprise Network Services will enable people to work with confidence in a secure computing environment.

Posting Duration:

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Position Information:

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
