College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.
Job Summary
Support of the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine Editorial Office by providing project and administrative support to the Managing Editor which includes, but is not limited to: data collection, creation/modification of social media accounts, working with the editorial board. This high profile position will be associated with physicians (academic and private practice) around the country. The position will also provide support to the Department of Family and Community Medicine Administrator and Business Office.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine Duties
Public E-mail Folder: Oversight of the large public e-mail folder for the ABFM with assessment and appropriate handling of e-mails with regard to response and/or forwarding to leadership.
Manuscript Submissions: Collect and manage manuscript submissions in the ABFM database (Editorial Manager).
Permission Requests: Track communication and notify requestors of approval to reprint content associated with the ABFM Journal(s). Initiate and track invoices to completion.
Editorial Board Communication: Facilitate communication with the Editorial Board, as needed. This includes meeting notification, follow-up, ensuring new and retiring members are appropriately notified of status, etc. Assist with establishing and maintaining outstanding relationships with board.
Data Collection: Analyze quantitative and qualitative data related to programming and use for demographics, attendance, articles, quality control, etc. Participate in project planning. Will also maintain all project files.
Social Media: Creation and update of social media accounts for the ABFM.
Special Projects: Assigned by the Managing Editor, as needed.
Departmental Duties Associated with Department Administrator
Manage daily operation of the office and special projects associated with the Family Medicine Center.
This would include mining of data, setting up complex spreadsheets, typing reports, and working with the scheduling coordinators to ensure projects are on schedule.
Ensure that departmental paperwork for external vendors, speakers, etc., is appropriately set up.
Other duties as assigned by the Administrator.
Business Office Duties
Check requests related to departmental and faculty CME expenses.
Maintenance of complex CME Spreadsheet which includes balancing as funds are utilized and working faculty.
Inputting of data in the Business Office database FileMaker.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study with a minimum of 2 years' experience or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with 5 years experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, multi-tasking, organizational and verbal/written communication skills;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and other computer software/databases.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines despite often interruptions, maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records and make independent decisions
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Band: 12
Salary Minimum: $62,300.00/Annually - $63,000/Annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position

Conditions of Employment
