Job Description

Summary

The Boeynaems lab seeks a Research Technician III to study how protein condensation is implicated in the etiology of neurodegenerative disease and brain cancer. The Research Technician will assist others in the lab with experimental work. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in general lab management and mouse husbandry.

Job Duties

  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments using standard approaches and protocols in which the Research Technician will be initially trained by other lab members. These can include: In vitro biochemical/biophysical approaches (condensation assays, Western blot, PCR, ELISA, etc.)
  • DNA and RNA sequencing
  • Human and mouse cell culture (including iPSC-derived cells)
  • Immunohistochemistry/fluorescence of cell and tissue samples
  • Confocal microscopy
  • Sample prep for mass spectrometry
  • Mouse husbandry, surgery, experimentation and processing of tissue
  • Collects and compiles data from above described experiments, analyzes them using commercial (Excel/PRISM) or custom software packages and rigorously documents their results in an electronic lab notebook.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment using Jaggaer.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science ora related field.
  • Relevant wet lab and/or mouse experience.
  • Strong organizational and experimental skills.
  • Communicative and able to work well in a team.
