Job Description

Summary

A Research Assistant position is available at the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy, Baylor College of Medicine. A candidate will assist with performing experiments in animal models of human cancer to select best cell therapy candidates for clinical translation to Phase 1 clinical trials. Models include cell line xenografts, patient-derived xenografts (PDX), and humanized mouse models. The candidate would join a dynamic, diverse, and experienced team of scientists passionate about translational research and clinical trials.

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with investigators to initiate and follow-up in vivo experiments (e.g., IVIS imaging, weight measurements).
  • Generate and maintain patient-derived xenograft models.
  • Generate and maintain mice with a humanized hematopoietic system ("humanized mice").
  • Arrange transfer of animals from the breeding colony and maintain colony database.
  • Assist with writing reports and manuscripts and present at scientific meetings.
  • Lead an independent project (optional).
  • Log and maintain experimental notes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
  • Experience in developing and evaluating new experimental CAR-T therapies to inform translation to Phase I clinical trials.
