Position Summary

City of Hope is seeking versatile and dedicated Clinical Nurses to join our Float Pool department, specializing in cancer treatment. As a Float Pool Nurse, you will be an essential asset to our team, providing flexible nursing support across outpatient oncology clinics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in oncology nursing, including chemotherapy administration, patient education, and symptom management. This role requires a nurse who can adapt quickly to different clinical environments, ensuring the highest standards of care for oncology patients.This opportunity is for per diem, with a minimum of 1 shift per week availability required. The position is for 8-hour shifts and designated for the day shift. The per diem flat rate for this position is $75.97/hr. This position is also eligible for a unit differential up to $5.50/hr and weekend differential up to $13.37/hr.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Provide specialized nursing care to oncology patients in various outpatient clinics and infusion centers.
  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology treatments according to physician orders and protocols.
  • Monitor patient responses to treatments and report any adverse reactions or significant changes in patient condition to the medical team.
  • Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, side effects, symptom management, and self-care strategies.
  • Collaborate with oncologists, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.
  • Perform assessments, including reviewing lab results, monitoring vital signs, and assessing patient symptoms to identify potential complications.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Graduate from nursing school with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Graduate from a nursing school with a diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing and currently enrolled in a BSN program (must obtain BSN within two years of hire or transfer).
  • Current California RN license
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in an acute care setting and/or outpatient setting
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card through American Heart Association
  • ONS certification preferred, but can be obtained during the orientation period
