Candidates of any rank with a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree and a strong interest in advancing our understanding of any aspect of the molecular mechanisms that govern the healthspan--the length of time when an organism is free from disease and remains in a state of health--of living systems are invited to apply.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic faculty with broad interests in the biochemical sciences.

The Department has an exceptional scientific environment including national centers in cryo-ET and NMR, and facilities and expertise in cryo-EM, crystallography, biophysical instrumentation, imaging, and animal care. These departmental strengths are complemented by a UW-Madison ecosystem that boasts remarkable breadth in biological, chemical, medical, and engineering sciences as well as numerous excellent facilities for research including those specializing in mass spectrometry, high-throughput sequencing, and computation.

In addition to establishing a creative, independent, and extramurally funded research program, faculty are expected provide a strong training environment for pre- and post-doctoral trainees, participate in our undergraduate biochemistry teaching program, and contribute to service in the Department, College, University, and beyond.

The position is an academic (9-month) tenure-track (junior) or tenured (mid-career or senior) faculty position. It carries a commitment to the three important functions of instruction, research, and outreach, as well as professional and university service as appropriate to faculty rank.

Responsibilities:
The candidate will be expected to:

1) Build an ambitious, independent, and imaginative research program that complements the Department's strengths in cutting-edge biochemical research.
2) Teach in the UW-Biochemistry undergraduate and graduate curriculum. Provide support for education within graduate programs.
3) Promote an inclusive and diverse climate within our campus and communities.
4) Contribute to faculty governance and participate in outreach through university and professional service.
5) Participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts with other departments, schools and colleges

We commit ourselves to the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research, outreach, and diversity as inextricably linked goals.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison fulfills its public mission by creating a welcoming and inclusive community for people from every background - people who as students, faculty, and staff serve Wisconsin and the world.
