Job SummaryThis recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Information Technology Consultant position for the Division of Student Affairs at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Information Technology Consultant (ITC) has responsibility for direct consultative support and training to students, staff, and faculty on information technology-based systems primarily in the areas of applications, software, multimedia, database resources, workstation & server support, network support, and includes a moderate degree of hardware consultation and support.
This position provides Information Technology services to the multiple departments under the Division of Student Affairs.

What We Require
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
What We Would Like You to Have
BS degree in computer science, information systems, or related fields; or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least two years of related work experience.
Experience providing telephone, remote, and on-site computer support,
In-depth experience with Windows workstation and server versions,
Experience with Linux operating systems,
Experience supporting point of sale systems,
Experience troubleshooting LAN environments,
In-depth knowledge of operating systems and hardware for problem identification and analysis,
Interpersonal and communication skills in working with users to interpret needs and provide appropriate solutions,
Ability to maintain documentation, inventory, and technical references,
Administer computer and system security practices,
Analyze system performance issues and work to resolve problems,
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
This position works with a small and diverse team and may be called upon to assist with aspects of the work which support the team and produce a positive impact, but which may not be specifically referenced in the outlined duties. Standard work hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours on occasion as needed is required; this includes server maintenance scheduled after regular business hours and troubleshooting critical business systems.
This position will support users and systems in 40+ buildings around campus making driving an essential function.
This position is deemed essential and the incumbent may be expected to report to work during inclement weather, emergency and other University work curtailments or closures. The incumbent is expected to check in with their direct supervisor or unit leadership daily during University delays or closures to determine if they are required to report to work.
