What Your Job Will Be Like:

The Program Security Office (Org 5114) is seeking a High-Risk Embedded Security Professional to support and manage special access program security operations. The selected individual will work closely with other security team members; cyber security staff; Field Intelligence Element staff; physical security subject matter experts; program management and technical staff, and government sponsors to provide guidance and oversight on special access program security matters. This person will be responsible for managing and implementing their security program for the area(s) in which they are assigned. This person will manage their special access security program consistent with other similar programs a t SNL. The successful candidate may be required to wear a pager during non-working hours and respond to SNL, as needed, to support security operations.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Interpret federal laws, regulations, and other requirements for Intelligence Community (IC), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and other high
  • Establish a personnel security program for the department based on multiple government requirements.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to all levels of staff and management.
  • Conduct security briefings to ensure compliance and adherence to applicable security policies and requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide results/analysis to management.
  • Manage and protect classified and/or sensitive information to include classification/marking guidance, destruction, transmission, storage, and reproduction activities.
  • Top Secret control accountability
  • Interpret and adhere to contract specific security requirements.
  • Personnel Security administration and program access request processing.
  • Implement physical access controls
  • Assist with the development of standard operating procedures
  • Conduct inquiries into potential incidents of security concern.
  • Carry a pager and respond to security matters outside of normal working hours.

Due to the nature of the work, this candidate must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$70,200 - $135,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate\'s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Security, Criminology, Cyber, IT, Political Science, Sociology, HR, or Business/ Project Management or related); or equivalent experience (AS +4 years or no degree plus 8 years of experience).
  • Currently hold a DOE Q clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SCI access, which may require polygraph testing

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Understanding of various security-related DOE Orders, DoD requirements, Intelligence Community Directives, and/or Sandia policies
  • Experience with Special Access Programs, including processing PARs, PSQs and Visit Requests
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines, frequent interruptions and changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to properly handle classified or sensitive information

The Program Security Office performs high-impact, national security work for a broad segment of the Department of Energy, the Department of Defense, and the Intelligence Community. The Program Security Office provides a secure environment for our programmatic partners to innovate and deliver exceptional service in the national interest. The Program Security Office is responsible for interpretation and oversight of security requirements, to include physical security, access controls, facility accreditation, incident investigation, and clearance management for special access programs.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
