We are thrilled to offer an exceptional opportunity to join City of Hope as a Radiation Oncology Nurse (RN) at our Torrance Community Practice. In this vital role, you will provide specialized care in our outpatient clinic, working closely with a dedicated team that includes two Radiation Oncologist and a fellow RN. Your contributions will be instrumental in delivering top-tier care to our patients, supporting complex treatment plans, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and satisfaction in a collaborative and compassionate environment. This position is perfect for a dynamic and motivated RN looking to make a significant impact in the field of radiation oncology.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • The Registered Nurse will support providers with consults and follow-ups.
  • Perform patient education.
  • Start IVs for CT simulations with contrast, coordinate chemotherapy.
  • Triage patient concerns related to their radiation therapy treatments and care related questions on side effects and wound care.
  • Help support the patient’s health literacy by providing patient education and answering clinical questions related to their care plan.
  • Assist in coordinating PEG tube placement and dental clearance for head and neck patients.
  • Assist in the radiation oncology care plan for cardiac devices.
  • Navigate the patient and caregivers through any barriers to care to aid in providing timely treatment, be a liaison working with other service lines e.g., financial counsellors, social services, transportation. (high-level awareness of payor authorization related questions that could affect the patients care.)
  • Support the patient and caregivers in quality-of-life goals and survivorship.
  • Act as a liaison between research team and rad onc team for clinical trial patients, including identifying patients for precision medicine, genetic and available trials.

Additional Information:

· Sign-On Bonus: $20,000 for full-time employees.

· 8-hour shift, Monday – Friday (8:30am -5pm)

· Overtime will be required 1-2 days per week.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Associate degree in nursing.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current California Registered Nurse license
  • Current BLS through American Heart Association.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience in a physician’s office or hospital.
  • One (1) year radiation oncology experience
  • One year oncology and chemo administration experience preferred.
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $50.85 - $76.28 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
