Position Summary

The Nurse Manager is responsible for all aspects pertaining to operational activities and program management within a designated grouping of clinics or units on a 7-day/week, 24-hour basis in collaboration with the Director, Nursing. The nurse manager is responsible for daily operations to meet financial, quality, and strategic initiatives and metrics. Using constructive problem solving, the nurse manager works collaboratively with peers, supervisor, physicians, advanced practice providers, subordinates, and all team members across the enterprise to achieve excellent patient outcomes and a workplace of choice.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical leadership and direction to nursing staff on the Hematology Inpatient Unit, ensuring the delivery of evidence-based, compassionate care to patients with hematologic disorders.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, hire, train, and supervise nursing staff on the unit. Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to promote staff development and job satisfaction.
  • Patient Care: Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other members of the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with hematologic disorders. Monitor patient progress and outcomes, and intervene as needed to ensure optimal care and patient safety.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance measures to monitor and evaluate the quality and safety of patient care on the unit. Conduct regular audits and reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and hospital policies and procedures. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient care activities and ensure adherence to legal and ethical standards.
  • Resource Management: Manage the budget, equipment, and supplies for the Hematology Inpatient Unit. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Patient and Family Education: Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding their hematologic disorder, treatment options, and self-care techniques. Ensure that patients and families are fully informed and engaged in their care.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Foster a collaborative approach to patient care by working closely with physicians, pharmacists, social workers, and other members of the healthcare team. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care conferences to optimize patient outcomes.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or BSN not required if holds MSN)
  • Three (3) years of experience in an area of expertise relevant to the department with demonstrated progressive leadership growth.
  • California RN license
  • American Heart Association-Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • National Nursing Certification (or must be acquired within 12 months of hire or transfer)

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $61.36 - $102.47 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
