As a successful candidate, you will:

This position requires a blend of data science andanalytics engineering skills. The fundamental role of the Analytics Engineer is to develop and maintain reusable data products that provide accurate data and reports to other teams. They will also be responsible for transforming, testing, deploying, and documenting data processes within our team. In addition, they will spend another portion of their time on data analyst/scientist tasks, using advanced analytical, statistical, and machine learning techniques to answer business and clinical questions. The candidate will use common programming languages (SQL, R, Python) to extract data from multiple sources and then create insight and summaries.

  • Building data models in the data warehouse using dbt to support team’s needs, consolidate data sources, and establish a self-service reporting platform
  • Work with Enterprise Data Warehouse team to integrate new data sources into the data warehouse as needed using Python or other EL scripting tools
  • Building data pipelines with a variety of tools
  • Interacts directly with the appropriate staff members (e.g., physicians, clinical technicians, department managers, project sponsors and various other members of the organization) to obtain and document business and/or technical requirements. Assists other department staff members as necessary
  • Migration and automation of legacy reporting tools to a new platform focused on creating a unified data model in the data warehouse

Skills & Technologies:

  • SQL
  • Data warehouse/ETL tooling such as dbt, Airflow/Prefect, Python, and Snowflake
  • Tableau (our current visualization tool) or related BI tool
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn a variety of analytics and reporting tools
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills are required for success.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Familiarity using a scripting language to manipulate data, Python strongly preferred

Bonus Experience:

  • Experience developing and maintaining custom data pipelines with Python Advanced analytical, statistical, and machine learning techniques. Experience performing data analysis or building machine-learning models using decision trees, boosting, etc.
  • Experience developing unified data models in dbt
  • Healthcare data experience
  • Moving from Microsoft SQL Server to Azure Cloud
  • Tableau or Similar BI Tool
  • Modeling data and Scripting

Your qualifications should include:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 3 years of related experience
  • Experience SQL Server, Python and/or other scripting languages

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $49.75 - $79.59 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
