This role provides oversight and leadership for the Inpatient Pharmacy Clinical Program and Investigational Drug Service. The Inpatient Clinical Pharmacy Manager will have direct supervision over the clinical pharmacists supporting the hematology and solid tumor disease teams, ICU/critical care, pain management and supportive care, infectious disease, and the transitions of care program. The ideal candidate should have experience in oncology.

Plans, directs, coordinates and leads the Pharmacy Clinical Program to achieve safe, efficient, and effective clinical services. Promote practice that achieves quality outcomes and medication safety that contributes to the overall success of City of Hope (COH). Accountable for clinical and research initiatives and staff education to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Ensure appropriate use of medications to support a safe medication distribution system that meets all licensing and regulatory requirements. Collaborates with system clinical pharmacy leaders to ensure standardization and harmonization of practices, policies and procedures, formulary, and EHR across the City of Hope Systems.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Develop, obtain approval, and achieve clinical program goals; ensure appropriate and cost-effective use of medications; manage clinical and pharmacoeconomic initiatives to plan and remain compliant with regulations and requirements governing safe and effective clinical practice; provide pharmacy oversight of disease site programs.
  • Work with COH Leadership, Nursing Leadership, physicians, pharmacists, and other department managers and key committees across the System to promote safe and effective patient outcomes through advance clinical programs.
  • Responsible for review and approval for treatments that require pharmacy leadership review, such as non-standard chemotherapy requests, high-cost treatment requests.
  • Attract, retain, and develop quality Clinical Pharmacy Staff/ with appropriate feedback and evaluation.
  • Work closely with pharmacy residents to contribute to their training.
  • Contribute to content provision for Committees such as the Formulary, Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T), and Safe Med.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.)
  • 3 years in hospital pharmacy with experience in leading or supervisory capacity
  • Current CA Pharmacy License
  • ASHP Accredited PGY-1 or PGY-1 and PGY2 Residencies, preferred

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $76.98 - $128.55 / hour
