What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Fire Alarm Tradesperson - GT1 Electrical

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Inspecting, testing, maintaining, installing, modifying, and troubleshooting Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Diagnosing and correcting malfunctions in Fire Alarm systems, circuits, and components.
  • Supporting acceptance testing of fire alarm systems.
  • Supporting impairments of fire alarm systems.
  • Must have a deep understanding of building code regulations to check and ensure compliance with the highest standards of building design and construction.
  • Success in this role will be demonstrated by employing effective process controls to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficient installation and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • As a condition of employment, Metal Trades positions are represented by the Metal Trades Council (MTC) and represented employees must pay the monthly membership dues or agency fee.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Proven experience Inspecting, testing, maintaining, installing, modifying, and troubleshooting Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Be able/available to work overtime on an as needed basis and be on-call.
  • Perform required periodic testing of systems and utilize a computerized database to maintain required records.
  • Utilize a computerized database to maintain records, and keep work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • May consult with other Tradespersons to provide direction to other employees as required.
  • Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical fire alarm equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
  • Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical fire alarm circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
  • Guides, and/or trains other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques.
  • Climbs ladders, sits, bends, stoops, stands, or walks for extended periods of time.
  • Travels to job site locations. Reads engineering drawings, blueprints, standards, and specifications to install facility systems and components to specifications and code.
  • Demolishes, installs, tests, and repairs facility structures, systems, and components.
  • Uses and maintains tools of the trade to perform work.
  • Collaborates and works as a team with other workers to produce finished construction projects timely and efficiently.
  • Follows all safety guidelines and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Supports operational capabilities within facilities, including construction safety, permitting, document control, space management, energy monitoring, and information technology applications.
  • Understands and adheres to all applicable Sandia National Laboratories and industry regulatory and safety guidelines.
  • Ensures all results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements.
  • State issued Journeyman ES-3J License/Journeyman Lineman/Journeyman Electrician or four years’ experience in relevant field.
  • Reading and analyzing blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to distinguish between different colors for wiring tasks.
  • Manual dexterity.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • In depth knowledge of inspection, testing, maintaining, installation, modification, troubleshooting, and diagnosing fire alarm systems, circuits and components
  • Trouble-shoot Fire Alarm Systems during standard and non-standard hours to include weekends.
  • Be able/available to work overtime on an as needed basis and be on-call.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to maintain excellent punctual and consistent attendance record
  • NICET Certification.

Security Clearance:
