Organization 5361 is seeking a motivated and energetic electrical engineer to join our hardware, firmware, and software team! The successful candidate will be working on complex multi-disciplinary designs that impact US space systems, electronic warfare, and RF communications. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for contributing as part of a team developing state-of-the-art embedded platforms. Having a desire to learn and develop your own skills will be crucial and beneficial as you join a fun and motivated team to accomplish missions vital to our nation.

You will work alongside world-class authorities and emerging leaders and use your skills in the following areas:

  • Digital board design
  • FPGA/Firmware Design and Implementation
  • Embedded systems development
  • Data processing on the edge

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$109,300 - $217,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate\'s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant STEM degree plus 5 years of related experience
  • -OR- an advanced degree in Electrical, Electronic, Microwave & Sensor Engineering or related STEM discipline, plus a minimum of 2 years work related experience
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q - level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

Ideally, we would like to see your background include some of the following, candidates are not expected to have all these desired qualifications:

  • You possess embedded hardware, software, and/or firmware development skills; as well as, familiar with the 1 or more of the following development methodologies or tools:
  • High speed digital board design tool using tools such as Mentor Graphics Xpedition or Altium
  • Experience developing firmware using VHDL
  • Experience with firmware DSP implementation
  • Experience in taking a FPGA design to hardware and/or ASIC and utilizing the full array of debug tools (embedded and bench logic analyzer, O-scope, etc.)
  • Experience using tools such as Vivado Design Suite for synthesis and analysis of hardware description language (HDL) designs
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, as well as work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment, building consensus and resolving issues.
  • Experience with HW/SW or system integration and troubleshooting
  • Willingness to work in a team-based development effort including tight integration with a hardware team
  • Active DOE Q-level clearance.
  • Active SCI level clearance.

Mission:The Intelligent RF Communications group (5360) provides unique high-performance products and expertise for national security applications that typically involve harsh operational environments. We provide integrated engineering systems solutions ranging from research through prototype development to high-reliability fielded products. We proactively develop technologies and maintain capabilities in anticipation of customer needs.

Department 5361 provides hardware and software development for embedded satellite systems, flight systems, and ground systems. These systems range from localized controller applications to high-end node-based computers serving as the heart of a satellite payload. Because of the high cost of payload launch, the design focus is on ultra-reliability, small size, and real time response. Our team consists of staff from the subject areas of electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, and electronics technology. These highly skilled staff members bring a quality emphasis to the creation of robust reliable embedded system designs.
