College/Department Information

Job Summary

The primary focus of this position is to negotiate and manage on behalf of AU and AURI, confidential disclosure agreements, data use agreements, materials transfer agreements, and inter-institutional agreements. Additional types of agreement may also be included.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

Agreements
Draft, review, negotiate, and manage confidential disclosure agreements, data use agreements, material transfer agreements, inter-institutional agreements, and others as assigned

Agreement Management
Manage these agreements, including such activities as: following up on agreement status, compliance, and termination, as well as appropriate docketing and tracking, electronic and physical records creation and maintenance.

Processes
Monitor and report process activity; participate in and lead process improvement projects; pursue process automation; ensure data completeness and accuracy in electronic (e.g., Inteum, OnCore) and physical files.

Policies & Procedures
Maintain and apply current knowledge of new and/or revised AU policies and processes (e.g., Institutional Review Board), state and federal regulations, and evolving trends (e.g., best practices, changes in law, case law, agency policies).

Activities, Meetings & Presentations
Participate in and contribute to educational activities with AU faculty, staff, and students and meetings/presentations including other AU departments.

Improvement
Support continuous improvement of contract negotiation and management practices, including the development of new or improved templates and tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Support
Support partner units at AU by reviewing intellectual property terms and conditions contained in clinical trials agreements, sponsored research agreements, service agreements, and the like.

Other Duties
Perform all other related duties/tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of work with a minimum of three years of applicable related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Experience
Strong preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience negotiating and managing intellectual property-related agreements in an academic setting. Excellent customer service experience is a plus. In addition, a keen understanding of intellectual property law, particularly with regard to patents and copyrights, is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Highly self-motivated/directed and a strong team player.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational, negotiation, multi-tasking, prioritization, drafting, business and critical-thinking skills.

ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work with a wide array of individuals effectively.
Ability to exercise sound professional judgment; make responsible decisions; prioritize assignments.
Ability to work in a high-pressure environment negotiating and managing a large volume of agreements while creatively overcoming difficulties.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday- Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).

Pay Grade: B13

Salary Minimum: $68,500 annually.

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.

Conditions of Employment
