Job Description

Summary

The Research Technician will work with research scientists in pre-clinical settings at The Center for Cell and Gene Therapy and clinicians conducting research trials at Texas Children's Cancer Center affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine. Performs the routine elements of research work in the field of cancer immunotherapy that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results.

Job Duties

  • Supports the development of novel immune cell therapeutics and the monitoring of ongoing research trials.
  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents results of experiments.
  • Selects, evaluates, and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Works on and keeps records of laboratory experiments, that includes immunoassays and cellular testing.
  • Conducts cytotoxic assays of engineered immune cells, cytokines and proliferation assays.
  • Designs and tests DNA, proteins and cells using various assays.
  • Keeps records and analysis of samples from ongoing chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell clinical trials.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.
