Job Description

Job Purpose

The Department of Medicine is actively seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Research Operations Associate to lead the departments award setup and management team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the management of the department’s sponsored research portfolio by leading the award setup and management process in partnership with principal investigators, section administrators, and research administrators.

This position is eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement within the Greater Houston, TX area.

Summary

Job Duties

  • Receives, analyzes, and interprets sponsored award notices for key information and validates award information, budget, and personnel in S4/SAP and other ERP systems.
  • Prepares and submits requests for WBS accounts, budget revisions, and other post-award management and accounting adjustments to the master data team.
  • Assists with personnel allocations and cost-transfer requests in BCM’s Professional Effort, Planning & Tracking system.
  • Prepares subcontracts and subcontract amendments submissions, tracks the progress of subaward set-up, and completes budget adjustments to obligate/de-obligate funds with the master data team.
  • Maintains tracking systems for all award setup related tasks and communicates with principal investigators and section research administrators.
  • Develops and monitors processes related to award setup, grants management, and financial operations and proposes improvements and enhancements to the department’s grants lifecycle process.
  • Mentors and trains support and professional staff on department and BCM processes and procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
