Tennessee State University is seeking a candidate to fill a nine (9) month – Assistant/Associate Professor of Public Health, Health Administration, and Health Sciences to transform lives, prepare a diverse population of leaders, and contribute to economic and community development through scholarly inquiry, research, and service beginning in the Fall 2024. The selected candidate will teach undergraduate public health, health administration, and health sciences classes. The candidate will conduct scholarly activities, recruit and advise students in the program, coordinate field placement activities, and develop partnerships with internal and external communities, assist with self-study, curriculum revision, and other duties as assigned.
Full-time faculty have a primary nine (9) month contract base on a minimum workload of 15 credit hours in the Fall and 15 credit hours in the Spring; teaching opportunities beyond contractual obligations, including during the summer may be available for additional compensation based upon departmental need.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess a doctorate (DrPH or PhD) in public health or a related health field. Those in the A.B.D. phase will be considered, preference for those completing the degree before Fall 2024. A strong candidate will possess high-quality innovative instruction skills with experience or willingness to teach in-person courses, online courses (synchronous and asynchronous), and hybrid; an active research agenda with evidence of, or potential for, publications and external funding; and a commitment to service to the department, college, university, profession, and community. Candidates should have outstanding management, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills to relate to diverse faculty members, staff, and students, and computer skills. Preferred experience with recruitment, retention, and program marketing strategies; self-study development; curriculum development; and academic advising.
