Job Profile Summary

Under general supervision, the purpose of the job is to perform a variety of warehouse or storeroom activities including receiving, storing, issuing, delivering, and shipping of widely diversified or specialized supplies. Employees in this job classification are responsible for one or more of the major functions of a large storeroom or maintain complete responsibility for all functions of small to medium sized storeroom.
Also, works closely with Warehouse Supervisor to accomplish objectives. Requires ability to assist with the duties of the Warehouse Supervisor, Senior Mail Operations Specialist and Fixed Asset Property & Records Storage Coordinator as needed. Performs related work as directed.

Minimum Education:

  • High School diploma or GED required .

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Two or more years of relevant experience in material management/warehousing at the semi-skilled or greater level.  

Minimum Certification/Licenses:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required or, as a condition of continued employment, a Valid Florida Driver’s License within 30 days after beginning employed by the College.
  • Valid Forklift certification.

Essential Functions:

  • Daily- 30%: Assists the Warehouse Supervisor in the accomplishment of objectives. Receives incoming shipments of merchandise; transports to storage area, verifies count with packing slip/invoice, notes and records any shortages/overages. Notifies appropriate operational or accounting personnel of any discrepancies regarding items received.
  • Daily -5%: Prepares merchandise into stock and/or arranges for transfer; operates forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, or related materials handling equipment incidental to the receipt and transport of goods. Assists in training Storekeeper I.
  • Daily -25%: Operates cargo van or truck to deliver and pick up equipment, supplies, mail, books, furniture and other merchandise.
  • Daily -10%: Processes returns of received items based on computer printout of return request initiated by department through purchasing. Organizes and maintains storage area in a safe efficient manner. Maintains accurate files and records for the purpose of documenting activities and providing materials and reliable resource information.
  • Daily -10%: Conducts inventory of goods and equipment as required. Works with the Purchasing department on matters concerning proper location of goods, complete/incomplete purchase orders, requisitions and location of necessary paperwork to complete and ship orders.
  • Other, As Needed -20%: Ensures that employees operating vehicles or equipment perform Preventive Maintenance, Checks and Services (PMCS) on all college vehicles and equipment, fueling and record keeping of college vehicles; may provide back up and/or assistance in related functions, such as Warehouse Supervisor, Senior Mailroom Operations Specialist, Coordinator, Fixed Asset Property & Records Storage and Courier.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of computer systems such as Workday, Microsoft Office, Archibus and package tracking software.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal orders. Possess attention to detail skills and effective communication and verbal skills.
  • Adhering to safety practices. Ability to operate equipment used in warehouse operations using standardized methods.
  • Ability to plan and adapt to changing work priorities.
  • Ability to operate standard electronic equipment (i.e. scanners, computers, copiers, etc.)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff within grounds and maintenance
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle may be required for some positions
