Job Summary

Assisting the PI and co-workers in the laboratory with basic experimental needs and maintaining experimental animal colonies. This person will also be responsible for maintaining a functional lab, including the lab tidiness, and timely reminding the PI/manager of restocking lab supplies.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Perform and document experimental procedures and results under the supervision of the PI and other staff scientists in compliance with the scientific standard to ensure integrity and reproducibility:
  • Maintains the laboratory animal breeding colonies for effective production of experimental animals. Clearly records and maintains the hardcopy and e-copy of breeding and experimental animals.
  • Assists with and works under the supervision of PI and other lab members for basic experimental needs, including but not limited to tissue culture, tumor inoculation, tumor burden monitoring/measurement, tissue harvesting and processing.
  • Prepares buffers and solutions for general lab needs.

Maintain laboratory tidiness, functional equipment, and adequate experimental supplies.
  • Maintains and cleans laboratory equipment. Identifies and schedules needed repairs.
  • Ensures that supplies, glassware, and plastic ware are cleaned and autoclaved per lab protocols.
  • Communicates with the program and institutional administrative staff of needs in office supplies and other administrative issues.

Other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science, or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.

OR

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous research experience in a biomedical research lab is a plus.

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday

Pay Grade: R9

Salary Minimum: $15.00 - Midpoint: $17.41

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
