Nurse Supervisor – Main Clinic

As the Nurse Supervisor at City of Hope's Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of clinical services in the Main Oncology Clinic. The role blends administrative duties with direct patient care, fostering excellence in patient care and adherence to City of Hope's high-quality standards.

The Nurse Supervisor leads and manages a team of RNs, LVNs, MA’s within the oncology clinic. They will partner with the Clinic Director on staffing including hiring, making work assignments, coaching, training, evaluating job performance and clinical competencies, and administering disciplinary actions, as appropriate. The supervisor will actively participate with peers, subordinates, supervisors, and operational leadership in constructive problem solving, quality improvement and managing the day-to-day operations of the oncology clinic. Additionally, they should be willing and actively engaged in providing direct support to staff and when necessary, whether it involves assisting with patient care, addressing operational issues, or stepping in during peak times. Contributes to quality improvement initiatives, and corrective actions required to address regulatory and accreditation standards.

As a successful candidate, you will:

• Staff Supervision: Lead and manage a team of Registered Nurse, LVNs and Medical Assistants and, including performance evaluations, competency validations, and training staff on new workflows to ensure consistent high-quality care.
• Work with leadership to develop solutions and systems to meet/exceed budgetary growth and targets.
• Maintains open lines of communication with the physician and multidisciplinary health team regarding patient care and clinical operations.
• Policy and Procedure Adherence:Monitor and ensure clinical staff alignment with current policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with quality and safety measures.
• Scheduling and Time Management:Create staffing schedules, monitor time cards, and manage clinic throughput to optimize patient care and staff efficiency.
• EPIC In-Basket Management:Oversee and monitor the EPIC in-basket, ensuring timely responses and efficient communication within the clinical team.
• Resource Support:Serve as a resource for staff during busy periods, ensuring they have the support they need to provide exceptional care to patients.
• Meetings and Collaboration:Hold regular meetings with your staff to promote teamwork, attend operational and nursing meetings for the clinical network sites, and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical operations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Your qualifications should include:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nursing is required.
• Minimum of three years of RN experience
• Previous supervisory or program coordination experience (preferred)
• ONS Chemo/Bio Certificate (or obtain within 6 months of hire)
• Current California Registered Nurse license
• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association
• OCN certification (or to be obtained within 1 year of hire)
